Nationalize internet access and infrastructure so all people have fair and equal access to information. This would make permanent the vital concept of NET NEUTRALITY and be rolled into equal and affordable access to education.

Excellent post Sean.  A

Excellent post Sean.  A valuable message to spread...   drop the major banks. Opt out. Turn off the TV. The loudest message is sent with money. Vote with your money and the message will be received.

I ditched any involvement with banks and now only do business with a member owned credit union. I'm looking to sever any ties I have with companies with whom I disagree.

The comments about staying on point are great. The financial abuse of us 99% must stop.

Peace and love.

My Wish-List

Here's my wish list (and it's a long one. The most important ones are preceded by ***):

***Overturn Citizens United SCOTUS decision. This is the first step to getting Corporate Bribery out of Politics.

***Publically-finance ALL Elections and impose reasonable time-limts on them. Require the Media to donate airtime for Commercials and Debates. Return control of Debates to a neutral party subject to the review of the citizenry.

Write laws that anyone with a High-School education and grasp of Civics can understand. Stop placing items within it that have NOTHING TO DO with the overall subject of it. (Good luck with this one! )

***End the Revolving Door of Industry Lobbyists being appointed to Agencies that are supposed to be Regulating those Industries and Former Regulators or Legislators moving into Lobbying and Consulting positions in the Industries they were regulating.

***Enact laws that provide for Recall Elections for Senators and make all Major Legislation subject to Referendum before passage or Recall within 1-year of passage.

***Reinstate Glass-Steagall Act (This separates Community and Commercial Banks from the Investment Banks which caused the 2008 collapse and the Treasury Looting/Bailouts. Why this wasn't immediately pushed through in 2009 I'll never understand.)

***Repeal NAFTA, CAFTA and the other "Free" Trade Agreements, discard all those pending and withdraw from the WTO.

End all Tax Incentives to Corporations to outsource American jobs and create disincentives to do so. Reinstall Tariffs on foreign goods and treat products manufactured by American Corporations overseas as such.

Stop privatizing what should be functions of the Federal and State Governments, especially Military, Intelligence, Security and Law Enforcement agencies and Prisons.

End Corporate Welfare subsidies, esp to Oil Companies, Ethanol and Factory Farms, but provide Tax Incentives for Renewable Energy and High-Speed Rail.

End No-Bid Cost-Plus Government Contracts and only contract with American Businesses that manufacture in the USA and employ only US Citizens.

***Break up the "Too Big To Fail" Banks.

***Enact Financial Transaction Tax.

***Enact Windfall Profits Tax.

***Enforce the Position Limits on Commodities Speculation that are already on the books!

***Freeze all Foreclosures and force any Banks receiving either TARP funds or payouts from the FED to renegotiate ALL Adjustable-Rate (SCAM) Mortgages!

***End the Bush Tax Cuts and raise the Capital Gains Tax.

Extend Anti-Trust laws to Health Insurance Corporations. No more carve-outs for special interests!

***Overturn Corporate Personhood.

***Simplify the Tax Code, but add new brackets for Millionaires and Billionaires and remove numerous loopholes, especially Mortgage deductions on 2nd homes!

Provide a basic Public Healthcare Option that at least allows for low-cost preventive care and screening and catastrophic coverage.

***DO NOT raise Eligibility Age for Social Security and Medicare; instead close the funding gap by Means-testing and removing Wage Caps.

End Fracking and Mountaintop Removal Mining. End oil drilling, mining and clear-cutting in National Parks. End "slap-on-the-wrist" punishments for Environmental and Public Health and Safety violations. FIX the EPA and FDA so we can ensure a safe and clean environment and food supply again.

Abolish the Federal Reserve and return Monetary Policy/Printing to the Congress.

Enact Anti-Usury Legislation to end exorbitant Credit Card rates, fees and other unfair practices.

Restore the Bankruptcy protections to at least what they were in the 1990s.

Make the Minimum Wage a Living Wage.

Stop the assault on Unions.

***Stop the Violation of our civil Rights by all of the Voter Suppression Laws being passed by the States.

Abolish the Electoral College.

***Allow the FCC to Re-regulate the Airwaves and break up the Corporate Monopolies' stranglehold on the Media. They are supposed to function as OUR eyes and ears - NOT Corporate Propaganda!

***Enact Laws guaranteeing Net Neutrality.

Repeal the Patriot Act: some parts of it can be modified and renewed but the process should be completely transparent and subject to public hearings. Have you ever tried to read The Patriot Act?!!

CLOSE GUANTANAMO!

END THE WARS IN AFGHANISTAN and IRAQ and stop providing Military Aid to Pakistan.

***INVESTIGATE AND PROSECUTE THE MASSIVE FINANCIAL SECTOR FRAUD that caused the 2008 Collapse and continues unabated.

INVESTIGATE AND PROSECUTE THE MANY CRIMES OF THE BUSH-CHENEY ADMINISTRATION.

PULL OUT OF NATO and CLOSE ALL MILITARY BASES AROUND THE WORLD and END THE EMPIRE! They are not there to protect us - they are there to do the bidding of The Corporations! If our Allies wish to retain a small complement of our Military for their security - charge them the full cost for it and make it on a voluntary basis for the soldiers.

STOP sending the National Guard overseas!

STOP PATROLLING the Oceans of the World with our NAVY - or charge the UN for the service and make it a volunteer force that provides it! The Industrialized Nations have benefitted for years from the Free Trade we are providing security for and we have been footing the bill and running up massive debt!

That's all for now. Smile

True Patriots do not worship the Flag and accept the dictates of their Government without question; they hold their Government accountable to the Ideals it espouses.

The Essence of Our Cause

"Occupy Wall Street has no repeated cheer to stop coal mining, or to grant civil rights, or even to end a war. This protest cannot be boiled down to a simple soundbite because this protest is ambitiously seeking a complex, fundamental, philosophical change in the social, political, and economic infrastructure of our country. (Try feeding that line to Katie Couric before she goes on the air and see what kind of terrified, vacuous stare you get in return.)

A change in the way our country operates cannot fit into our poor excuse of a national media, nor can it be easily pitched by televised pundits. Furthermore, if a seismic economic shift occurred wherein our citizenry found itself to be financially empowered, it wouldn't start with a $100 million presidential campaign; it would start with something that resembles Occupy Wall Street."

This article resonated with me because it seems like no one is saying it CLEARLY but this is what we really want. A complete revolution of our whole country... key political leaders to step down, completely new infrastructure in our economics and government. I think we got to make that clear that this is about massive change! We want a complete takeover by the people!

In that, we need to start looking a something new to offer the people -a vision. New ways of life. For example, check out the Venus Project at thevenusproject.org   It's not a perfect solution, but it starts to point in the right direction that there is more than enough for everyone on this earth. We can in fact provide food and services for FREE as a way of life in fact. I know that sounds extreme, but consider that in WWII, we built billions of dollars worth of weapons and vehicles. We didn't have even 1/10th of that money. We  couldn't pay it. But we produced it because we HAD to against Hitler. We faced extinction if we didn't. So money and the whole economy is just a game that we need to slowly transform or transition out of.

We got to get down the very foundation of what economics is dependent on - energy. We are in poverty for two reasons, limited oil and lack of proper distribution. Thorium, Solar Energy, Wind, Cold Fusion exploration are all viable solutions that if produced on mass scales can lift EVERYONE out of financial poverty. If hundreds of millions of people agreed to this, we could literally triple our resource abundance within a decade. Then we need to look at distribution. By creating jobs that actually serve the betterment of mankind and paying them a new standard of salaries that is based on our newfound abundance of resources, we can change everything!

The way I see it.. there is no middle line. There is no such thing as forgiving our debts and ending the fed without completely replacing our entire political and economic infrastructure. We are talking about a revolution to completely overhaul the system and that should be made clear at least within our circles.

We are the Revolution!

The Amazon Tax is an Assault Against Our Constitutions

This is a youtube video of a message on the subject of demanding Amazon Taxes to promote 'level playing fields' that will be applied against The Rights of the Citizens as delivered by the president of the CRA, Bill Dombrowski:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGr_eTY0-9U

My response to this video, as should be on view in the comments section of this youtube page (unless Mr. Dumbowski has it censored):

That "loophole" exists by The Export Clause of our U.S. Constitution as a check and balance against poor local product selection, against poor customer support, against a failure of the local government to respect their constituents, and against unjust State-level taxes, for instance, on tobacco and alcohol as used by lawful Citizens in The First Person in accordance with Our State Rights to Privacy, Property, and the Right to acquire the objects of Happiness, as long as we do not trespass against The First Person Rights of Others. It is all about Mind Your Own P's and Q's, or was supposed to be that.

The Export Clause of The Constitution of The United States prohibits taxes on articles exported from other States and is Our Founding Father's response to The Boston Tea Party.

For what the State wants, they must respect us.

CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 1 DECLARATION OF RIGHTS

SECTION 1. All people are by nature free and independent and have
inalienable rights. Among these are enjoying and defending life and
liberty, acquiring, possessing, and protecting property, and pursuing
and obtaining safety, happiness, and privacy.

CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 1 DECLARATION OF RIGHTS

SEC. 2. (a) Every person may freely speak, write and publish his or
her sentiments on all subjects, being responsible for the abuse of
this right. A law may not restrain or abridge liberty of speech or
press.
CALIFORNIA CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE 1 DECLARATION OF RIGHTS

SEC. 3. (a) The people have the right to instruct their
representatives, petition government for redress of grievances, and
assemble freely to consult for the common good.

Under the State Code:

CALIFORNIA CODES
GOVERNMENT CODE
SECTION 100

100. (a) The sovereignty of the state resides in the people
thereof, and all writs and processes shall issue in their name.
(b) The style of all process shall be "The People of the State of
California," and all prosecutions shall be conducted in their name
and by their authority.

Sovereignty is defined as having the power and authority of the State. In California, We are the power. There is no such State government which exists unto itself, no such government which exists apart from The People in The First Person. All Third Party governments and organizations are Prohibited by The Alliance and Confederacies Clause of Our Constitution of The United States at the state level, no mater whether they be public, private or official.
And Excise taxes are, or were supposed to be Uniform, due to the experiences our Founding Fathers faced with The Boston Tea Party.

When our local merchants disrespect us. When our State ignores us, We Have The Right to Shop Elsewhere. When this occurs, The State of California has not earned the Right to collect any Amazon Tax.

The California Retailers Association lobbied hard as an alliance and as a confederacy against The Export Clause of Our Constitution for The Amazon Tax.
The companies which serve on the board of The California Retailers Association are:

Note that United Parcel Services (UPS) is the chief rival of FEDEX, a major shipper for Internet purchases, and that FEDEX' parent company (Roadway Services) is not a member of the CRA. An alliance and a confederacy to be sure.

And the shame of it is,

And the shame of it is, there was a ballot referendum slated to overthrow The Amazon Tax, let We the People decide, but Our Legislators worked against the vote while Amazon then caved in.
Just last night on t.v., the once-trusted-for-tax-issues conservative, George Runner, was instead touting the enforcement of the tax. I am a Constitutionalist, not a Con or Lib, but it sickens me to see Brown or Runner or anyone of the California political machine betray their former integrity by behaving against their own words.
Thank you once again Jerry Brown, por nada.

the amazon tax is popular.

the amazon tax is popular.  the reason is simple - it pits the local small businesses and the users of state services against an out-of-state entity that harms both.  eventually, all online sales will be taxed as a local sale.  oh well.  so what.

The Amazon Tax cannot be That

The Amazon Tax cannot be That Popular. Amazon collected more than enough signatures to place a referendum against the tax on the ballot, and when it was clear that it would likely pass, Our Legislators worked to prevent it from inclusion on the ballot.
I am tired of legal wranglings in the place of honest, plain speaking government, what was supposed to be Ours.

< It pits the local small

< It pits the local small businesses??????

Er, take a look at the company board of directors of the CRA and Tell Me which of those businesses Are Small Local Businesses? UPS? Altria/Kraft Foods/Marlboro/Oscar Meyer/Miller Brewing/Kool-Aid? 7-11? Sears? Wal-Mart?
Are there any 'local small businesses' on That List of lobbyists for The Amazon Tax?
