Description:
This Sunday 6/24 at the Freedom School from 1 pm-3pm!
Interactive and participatory training on being a legal observer during actions and providing legal and court support following possible arrests. Learn skills to help document and possibly even deter police misconduct, to keep track of arrests and charges, preserve exculpatory evidence, track protester arrestees in the system, deal with bail, support comrades in jail, understand the court system and organize court support.
Class facilitators (Garrick Ruiz, Diana Pei Wu, the OLA legal support committee and attorneys) will use skits, presentations, discussion, powerpoint, and handouts in this interactive workshop.
The police/courts/government/corporate complex want to use the "legal system" to harass and oppress the occupy movement out of existence--be ready and be part of the defense and offense!
We hope there will be participants from all affinity groups, committees, action teams, etc. Please RSVP if you are coming at occupylalegal@gmail.com or on this event page
