Apparently, Ms. Mc Allister and her remarks are getting a lot of play in the media. Obviously, this storyline is part of a strategy to discredit the movement. Keep in mind that prior to her remarks, unknown to anyone here until we heard about the response to them, she was an employee of Los Angeles Unified School District.
We have no control mechanism for people like Ms. Mc Allister, nor do we have a desire to censure people who may show up to express their views consistent with their First Amendment guarantees.
We do have the ability to point out that this episode appears to be contrived and artificial, part of what could be called a hoax by certain members of the media. It should also be noted that the interview was conducted by the local Fox affiliate, and there is mounting evidence that this is part of a “spin” effort by parties hostile to the Occupation Movement.
We are not turning a “blind eye” to anything. In fact the opposite is true. We are keenly aware that people like Ms. Mc Allister are out there, and have tried to use the Occupation Movement as a platform to spread a hateful message. That is why they came here in the first place. As far as their message, only those media organizations that air their views can decide how much publicity they get. Where’s the outrage? Good question.
Elsewhere, we have found support increasing among middle-America and even some within the banking and financial sectors.
And Mayor Bloomberg says he’s done “playing nice” with Wall Street protestors. Expect more arrests:
This from Thorin Caristo, OWS media coordinator:
“His (Bloomberg’s) inability to create a clear and definitive opinion or position on OWS just shows he's being tossed around like a bird in a storm. We all know what that storm is, that storm is the growing concern in the higher factions of Wall Street, that this movement might actually be making a difference.
“The mayor's statements sound hardline and I have no doubt he may actually try to enforce those. But we all know that every time excessive police force is used in this situation the movement grows exponentially.”
