Occupy skid row was attacked on two fronts this morning! At 4th and Towne, police arrested Shawn Gregory, and stole the OSR couches. On Main ST 2 female comrades were arrested. This is just the opening salvo in an upcoming attempt to sweep the housless residents of Central City East community off the streets and into the prison industrial complex. Join us tonight between 5-6pm at Ballington Plaza to help us protest the cities racist and classist policies, as we protest thei self agrandizing bullshit Safety walk. Bring drums, megaphones, and your voice! ALL POWER TO ALL PEOPLE! NOT THE PIGS!
If you can make it please join LACAN on the monthly safety walk. The safer cities initiative is a downright lie. There are well over 15,000 people in downtown LA with no where to go. These streets are the only option. The shelters are full, the missions are nonsense. People are getting fat paychecks to oversee these services while the ever growing demand for help is ignored. The safer cities initiative "helps" these people by hiring private security who carry big batons. They are the "Red Shirts". These individuals violate the rights of the unhoused DAILY. They steal peoples belongings, they assault people on a regular basis, they lie, they snitch. They are nothing but paid criminal thugs of the banks and the business improvement district. Since they are mere security guards, are they not subject to the very laws they are supposed be assisting the police in enforcing? Not only are they not held accountable by the community of Los Angeles, but they are the wal-mart greeters of the LAPD.
They have recently hired 40 new officers along 5th street in downtown LA, these officers are there specifically to target Skid Row. Many nights we have watched them allow drug dealers to do business out in the open, while harrassing the unhoused citizens of Los Angeles. Imagine if they spent the money on the homeless that they did on our raid, and on the police presence to control the citizens of Los Angeles on May day, to take care of the people on the streets? More of them would be housed, more of them would be fed. We need to step up and all come together to address the issues of this city and this nation. Change starts at home. Get involved.

REFUSE, RESIST AND PROTEST!

Yes, there is abuse in Skid Row. The guys from LAPD think residents in this area of Downtown Los Angeles are all criminals. There is crime there. There are drugs all over the place but just a fraction of Skid Row residents are in dirty business. Nobody from the local government really cares.That's for sure.
The homeless problem has been growing and growing since Ronald Reagan was Governor of California (1967 to 1975) when he closed all existing mental facilities because it was too expensive for the State to maintain them. Guess what? they sent all people with mental illnesses to the streets, and the mainstream media liars fill their mouths talking about human rights, genocides overseas, holocaust, etc. but this is how we have been treating human beings right here, at least for the past 40+ years. And that individual who is not resting in peace became president of this nation.
We send troops to war to "free" people (in reality to destroy and dominate countries), spending trillions of dollars that only benefit the food, pharmaceutical, banking, and military technology industries, sustaining a sick system that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer, therefore we must:
REFUSE, RESIST AND PROTEST!
