Symbolic Anti-Party Formation, M-Occu-Lections: A Brief Explanation

FreeWoman's picture

For eternity, people who were opposed to their governments or oppressors have united against them. In a democracy, we are theoretically allowed to peacefully throw off an unwanted government by voting them out. However, most of us of any experience or knowledge of our vertical political process in the U.S. know that in our country, the political process is rigged against the people. In creating a symbolic election and mock party we are stating that although we wish we could actually win a national election in this country, and change it for the betterment of all people and our planet, we know that the currently corrupt nature of our elections would make that impossible. We already have signed up dozens for this "M'occu-Party", and believe we could sign up millions more.

We are also stating through our "platform" , which would be based on the voice to the voiceless declaration or something similar, what we stand for and some of the changes we would like our government to make, if they actually represented us as they should. Further, through filming and conducting mock debates and mock round-table discussions, we are educating the public in an entertaining way about issues of real political importance to Americans, such as avoiding war with Iran, stopping illegal foreclosures in this country, stopping our food and water from becoming contaminated due to corporate greed, and so on. We do not wish to preclude any other methods of garniering support for our cause, but simply present this as one creative way of doing so.

Those who are interested in helping form a vision around this idea, and a canvassing campaign to outreach to the disillusioned in your area, please come to our M-Occu-Lections and Canvassing subcommittee meetings at 430 pm Thursdays (at Occubucks today, and in Pershing Square fountain starting next week).

Tuesdays at 7:PM we meet to hold Mock Debates, and Mock "Round Table Discussions" between the 1% and the occupiers. Please join us at F-Square Printing and Internet Cafe on Spring St just past Main, bring a friend, coffee, sodas and snacks, and internet are available at F-Square for a small fee.
