THEY SAY GET BACK!
As California Universities face yet another round of tuition hikes, as students shake off the slumber of winter break, the spring promises to be even more transformative than the American autumn. The month of November 2011 included the globally infamous UC Davis Pepper spray incident of Lt. John Pike as well as the UC Berkley Baton Beatings. Police violence on UC campuses continued on 19Jan2012 as students protesting the UC Riverside Regent’s Meeting, were met with a large multi agency police response; three protesters were arrested and four were shot with less lethal rounds comprised of plastic and paint… for protesting.
WE SAY FIGHT BACK!
Coalitions between students and workers are rapidly forming for international solidarity actions on March 1st to defend education. In preparation for this huge day of worldwide dissent, campuses will be holding teach-ins on February 22nd – 23rd. Occupy Colleges will be drafting a petition calling for a moratorium on student loan debt. Also, a handbook on how students can occupy their campuses. If you are interested in becoming a facilitator or linking up to national actions, join the conference calls via Interoccupy.org. Every Sunday at 3:30PM EST/6:30PM PST.
