Occupy LAUSD

Forums:

Please join rank and file public school teachers and OccupyLA Tues., Oct.18th, 4pm, for a march from LA City Hall (200 North Spring) to the Lo Angeles Unified School District (333 South Beaudry).  Picket and protest massive underfunding of our public schools, despite LAUSD's $55-million dollar surplus.  Demand thousands of teachers, librarians, nurses, counselors, psychologists, and clerks be rehired to open the libraries, reduce academic class size (now often over 40 in a classroom), and adequately prepare our students fora promising future.  Wear red and bring signs: "Stop Starving our Students. We are the 99%" or "LA Unified School Board, Shame on You!" or "Bring Back the Teachers & Fully Staff our Schools" or "Open the Libraries. Literacy Matters."

No, a thousand times, no.

I would march to break up LAUSD.  Throwing more money at them would just widen the bottomless pit where education tax dollars disappear: unions and adminstration.  Anyway this is not the time nor the place to ask for MORE MONEY.

I agree with Abejarano that

I agree with Abejarano that the current educational system is doing a disservice to us all and our children.  I would also agree with Marcywinograd that we need to turn our attention to the education of our children--and that what resources we have would be better spent on education than war or bail outs.

I think I would be more supportive of an education protest, Marcy, if it didn't support the current failing system of standardized testing, one-size fits all educational curriculum, "no child left behind" approach, but simply with "more hands on deck".  Perhaps changing the tone or pupose of the protest to emphasize the need for education and less about growing our currently (in my opinion) broken schools would gain better support?

Let's make Wall Street Biggest Crook's "Baseball Cards"

I just read Matt Taibbi's unsettling article on Why No One on Wall Street is going to jail.

So that gave me an idea for this whole movement:

Let's start making baseball cards with each crook's (I mean baller's) Picture with his/her Wall Street/SEC scandals (I mean accomplishments), Career Steals (I mean stats), and distribute that shittt all over Occupy Wall Street, and every other occupation across America.

Just like athletes can't escape public scrutiny and scorn over their misdeeds because they are easily identifiable, we need THE PEOPLE TO INTIMATELY KNOW THE FACES OF THE REAL CRIMINALS of the world!!!

Let's call out these A$$-HO's so they can't go anywhere without being recognized, publicly brutalized, and righteously tarred and feathered like the piece of chicken shiitt that they really are.
