Prejudice at OLA?

Forums:

Just a quick note to let you guys know that there are some that may refuse to participate and some that will take offense (and rightfully so) to some of the signs you're allowing at the protests. Please don't allow OccupyLA to be co-opted by bigots.

Anti- semite Tea Party and Lyndon Larouche supporters

Anti-semite Tea Party and Lyndon Larouche supporters, would love to co-op this movement. Unfortunaly they already were organized before we got started.  Tea Party and Lyndon Larouche nut jobs, want to shut down the FED because they mistakenly think it's run by Jews. ( Hitler said the same thing), I wish it was maybe we wouldn't be in this mess.

Not Anti-semitic

Please don't make the mistake of lumping anti-fed people with anti-semites. Some people (Non-Libertarians, non-Ron Paul supporters or Anti-Semites) like myself oppose the Fed because it is filled with people who are working for the Banks - NOT the American people. One example: William Dudley who is the president of the New York Federal Reserve was partner and Managing Director at Goldman Sachs AND prior to that was Vice President of Morgan Guaranty Trust Company. (Now Morgan Stanley) This is just ONE example. They are working to help the 1% remain the 1%. To me, Big Banks & The Fed are one in the same.

The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves - in their separate, and individual capacities. -Abe

I think the point is that

I think the point is that there has been some Anti-Semitic people floating around city hall. I first noticed it when item 23 was being discussed, this does not mean that occupiers are Anti-Semites, but that these people exist and they speak up. This issue needs to be resolved. I do not think it matters which group is Anti-Semitic, as much as the fact that there should be no tolerance for this in our world.

You have to expect this in an

You have to expect this in an open-door movement.

The answer, IMO, is to make sure those of us who agree on certain topics, like prosecuting the bankers for fraud, or getting glorified bribery out of politics, weave a solid and coherent message that drowns out the noise.

This process is all about consensus. I say it's time our SIGNS reached a consensus, and thus I propose a sign-making workshop be held preceding the next big march. And yes, I do volunteer to be involved in this.

Good point

I just want to highlight, that Glass-Steagall is getting attacked in all the occupy movements.  That is because Wall Street thinks the protestors are stupid enough to believe the lie that Glass-Steagall won't work.

And the only reason I can see that LaRouche supporters would get attacked, is they have been organizing for Glass-Steagall SINCE 2008.  Back then they called it the Homeowner and Bank Protection Act, before the bailouts even STARTED.

Why would anybody try to shut them out, or say they are anti-semitic? Hmmm??
