Charlie Chaplin - Powerful Speech

Forums:

Hi...not sure if this is the correct forum but it seems close. I was just wondering what you others might think of this idea: There is this amazing speech given by charlie chaplin in the great dictator (his first 'talkie') and someone has mixed in modern elements from our world today. The combination of the two makes for an extremely powerful statement for human solidarity, abolishing war, abolishing money, etc. The spirit and content of the speech seem very consistent with the general spirit of the Occupy movement.

So I was just thinking what a powerful statement it might make if we could somehow project this 4-minute clip on the side of a buidling (City Hall?) or large white screen of some sort. The audio would probably need to be amplified to be heard. I suppose a less satisfying alternative would be to add subtitles. Actually if both could be done it would be powerful and inclusive, right?

Here is the clip: http://youtu.be/WibmcsEGLKo

I suppose it would help if some media was covering the protests at the time it was screened, too.

Well, what do you people think? Is that an idea worth pursuing?

BTW, it also occured to me that the fact that the film is 70 years old highlights the timelessness of the message and the urgency of it as well.
