I felt compelled to write this after I saw a post on the homepage about Kieth Olberman, then I noticed we have a lot of post's about celebrities. What concern's me is the "Star Struck Attitude" we seem to be getting here. I just hope we don't lose focus on why we are doing this, and how it only takes a few to compromise this movement or derail it through careless trust issues and unguarded comment's.
So please read my following thoughts, take a minute to think about them & respond or react, let me know if you think I'm full of sh*t, paranoid or have a valid point.
To OWS, OLA & The Media & Talk show host's who throw their support behind OWS & OLA, or may sympathize with our movement, I would pose the following statement's & question's for your response:
All due respect to Mr. Olberman, as well as any other "Media & Talk Show Host", their Number 1 Priority is to keep their show on the air.
Due to "The 99%" philosophy of OWS OLA, igniting our revolution against the Greed & Unfair Business practices of the other 1% , Corporation;s, The Financial Industry & the Politician's who paved their ways. There is already an obvious "Conflict of Interest" between our revolution & the "Media & Talk Show Host's". This is a fact based on who the Media & Talk Show Host's work for, the major corporation's, & those who pay for the show's, The other major corporation's along with many companies who are a part of the Financial Industry.
So I ask, when the invertible happens, some time during the course of our revolution, and the media or talk show host is faced with the decision of how to cover us due to the pressure applied by their employer's or advertiser's, will you:
A) Sacrifice your career's & ignore what your employer's or advertiser's require of you
B) Abandon us
Those are the only two choices you will have, no matter how you may want to spin a third or fourth choice.
What will you do?
To "Occupy" I ask,
With all due respect to the media & talk show host's, can they be trusted? There is a conflict of interest.
Don't waste the effort of this movement, don't compromise the importance of this movement, a movement that involves hundreds of million's of individual's in this country, and all those other billion's watching our effort through out the world.

everyone is out for their own agenda, and thats cool we are the 99%, the mainstream is covering this because were to qoute Charlie Sheen "Winning".. so let the celebrities come as they are or not, either way we will not stop-

I think media attention is good. Danny Glover, Dr. Cornell West and Tavis Smiley, Anderson Cooper, Keith Olbermann, Rosanna Arquette, Tom Morello -- all these in the first week! Just 10 days ago, this was not dreamt of. Having celebrities stop by is excellent. Among other things, it says Occupy LA is a legitimate and safe destination of political and social importance.

Media attention is good insofar as it furthers the cause of our occupation. We unfortunately cannot count on that. In revolutions past, the Media has played a very important role of acting as a catalist of historical thinking. The Historical is NOT the same as the Natural. It does not represent the best of all possibilites. The historical thinking insinuated by The Media tends to pegion hole movements into easy to understand headlines that opperate within the very system we take issue with.

The media is in it for the media, it's all about market shares & market shares are all about profit & profit is based on selling advertizing time & who buys the ad spots? I am pretty confident it's not an entity that would be willing to donate resources to our cause, & if any were to offer assistance I hope we would practice our due diligence & seriously question their motive.
Our movement is so very important to me, it's the only opportunity I have to remove the chains that are binding me to a life of dispare, repression, depression, intellectual depravity, political misrepresentation, financial extortion and a progressive movement by my government to surgically remove my basic right's of freedom as guaranteed in our Constitution & Bill of Right's.
Now if you want to take a chance & saddle up to the media, pinning the future success of this rare opportunity to break these chains, then so be it. But I ask you, are you willing to gamble away any substantial opportunities we may have to change on a perception that the media will continue to help us continue our progress?
I personally am not comfortable in handing over any responsibility to the media when it comes to the delicate security needs for this chance of a new beginning, I guess I'm just selfish that way when it comes to protecting my family.

please see 'search' for other comments about how many are arriving at Occupation LA to be "seen" as "with the real 99% people" while not being there now, if ever, or maybe they at upper limits before now? But their alliances are useful to protect us from authoritarial abuse and evictions….. These 'do gooders' are UP-lifting their images with us as props and background….. And.... we are being seen as "maybe...having something to say of relevance..." and as buddies with the richer and famouser, so we too momentarily get some glitter shine from their visits.... hmmmm...a mutual gain but also …BEWARE that it doesn’t become just a media circus that is not even funny, just contrived…. Funny how no one notices us until someone famous gives us their approval, or even a bit of cronyism limelight...hmmmmmm

We must rely on us, "Occupy & The 99%" for accurate coverage of our revolution. When we rely on anything outside of our own means, we chance splintering our Solidarity.
