Occupy brothers and sisters, please stand in solidarity with your fellow movements; Occupy Longview, Portland, and Oakland. We are asking for your participation and endorsement of our upcoming actions in Longview Washington. Please bring the following resolution to your GA for potential endorsement: http://interoccupy.or/resolution-of-occupies-longview-portland-and-oakland-a-call-to-interoccupy-action/.
We have been asked by our brothers and sisters from the longshoremen union in Longview to support them in their struggle against EGT and their parent company Bunge. EGT's parent company, Bunge, belongs to a cartel of three corporations that control 90% of the world's grain supply. Bunge has worsened world hunger by fixing grain prices. They are forcing workers in Brazil to work in near slave conditions. They are guilty of multiple violations of the Clean Air Act, as well as millions of dollars in tax evasion in Argentina.
The International Longshoremen Workers Union is engaged in a crucial struggle at the Port of Longview, Washington, where EGT is attempting to operate as the West Coast’s only non-ILWU facility, despite promising otherwise when it received millions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies to build its grain-exporting terminal. Now, as the first ship makes its way to the port to fill up with grain bound for Asia, it is reported that Coast Guard ships and helicopters will be used to escort this ship. This is the first time in 30 years that the united states military is taking the side of a corporation in a labor struggle. The use of a tax-payer funded military to oppress the very citizens who pay the taxes that support it is horrifying.
We expect less than 48hrs notice on when this ship will arrive; it will be either at the end of the month or in the first weeks of next month. If you would like an update on when this is happening, please text @noegtpdx to 23559. If you can make it up to Longview to stand in solidarity there we would first and foremost advocate for that. Let’s stand together and send a message to EGT that we will NOT allow this injustice to continue. Please sign up at http://occupytheegt.org/content/sign-longview-caravan. If you cannot do this, please stand in solidarity with occupies around the nation at Bunge offices in your local area on or before this day. http://www.bungenorthamerica.com/locations/usa/index.shtml.

So, as of now the boat doesn't have a tug into port. Union and non-union don't want to be involved because of the union busting and because of the coast gaurd and because of the MILITARY presence. The boat is kind of stagnant until then.
We should have about 24 hour notice.
HEART PDX!
