Update on Lawyer

Last night I (Rossana)  had offered to contact a lawyer who may be available to represent us, in case we are in need of one. I spoke to the secretary and I was told he is in court all week, so I scheduled an appointment for next Wed at 3:30 pm. I will be out of town, but Arturo will meet with him and report back to the group.

I met with Jim Lafferty at the National Lawyers Guild office this morning. I was on the NLG International and Cuba committees for ten years in a p previous life (90"s-2004). Someone had contacted him from OLA and he came up with a lawyer, Mathew Strugar, who will be at the the event Saturday. We also spoke about conducting a NLG training in civil disobedience. The soonest that could be scheduled is next Wednesday. Will raise this at the GA tonight, Wednesday. I will also be at the Media Committee meeting at 6pm tonight.

is this the meeting that Mario and Joe had with Lafferty and LAPD?

 

From what I remember Mario and Joe were supposed to talk to LAPD and I think Lafferty was supposed to be there. There was supposed to be discussion about what the terms and agreement for the occupation were. I'd apologize for throwing this out there but there seems to be STRONG LACK of communication going on here between what's been going on with each team apart of OccupyLA and the General Assembly events.

heard him say monitors were needed...did not hear whole story...could it be archived on KPFK website under his program National Lawyers Guild to be reheard if he is not reachable ?
