"Hope" is a passive mantra. I believe in activism.
For 3 years, many among us sat passively "hoping" President Obama meant what he said and said what he meant in 2007 and 2008. While it may be true that some of us didn't carry our own weight in the quest for change, many of us did. And this leader - time and again - has made the donor-expedient and ineffectual choice, deferring to the entrenched power structures, where this country desperately needed bold leadership in its time of crisis. These are unacceptable.
I don't envy him the situation he inherited. I am proud of him as a man and a politician - because his success is still remarkable in the United States of America. However, it would be folly to ignore the significant debt he owes to Goldman Sachs and other financial institutions who - rightly - read the tea leaves and made the right bet in 2008. In light of that, he is too beholden to offer the 'change' we really need.
I am not participating to bolster the political aspirations of ANY candidate in the United States. Period.

In the interest of fairness and an ideal of free speech, I'm not deleting this crap. Sorry about the flame, but this makes me mad. I definitely didn't build this web site for Obama, Ron Paul, or any other corporate puppet. I don't think too many of us support Obama, or, for that matter, the electoral college system. We participate in consensus and direct democracy only, and that is all we need to get things done. We have a nation-wide movement of general assemblies all over the country, plus in Tokyo and Israel. Soon, we will occupy the whole world. We don't need any clown making decions for us on a massive scale; I truly hope you can come to understand that.
