I spent the good part of last night on the Occupy L.A. Live Feed.  I listened and asked questions.  I wanted to see what they had to say and if they really needed my support.  I asked a lot of questions, but the one thing I couldn’t get answered was “What is the first change you would like to see come out of this movement?” and “What are the plans to make change happen through this movement.”  No one answered when I asked and that bothered me.  Now, I was raised as a Socio-Democrat.  I don’t believe in downsizing Government when it helps its citizens.  I run with the Progressives from Teddy Roosevelt to Franklin D., but I had to hear what the enemy was saying about this “occupation”.

I drove home from work and switched to AM talk radio to listen to the master of Right Wing Propaganda and Hate, GLENN BECK!  It’s not easy for me to listen to him, but it was his sounding board today on “WHY THESE PEOPLE DOWN ON WALL STREET ARE DANGEROUS!”  Mr. Beck compared the protesters to “the brown shirts“ of regimes of the past.  He said  these were the people that came first before Hitler, before Stalin, before Mao, before Castro.  Mr. Beck went on to explain why Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Payne, people who I had always been taught helped make the American Revolution possible and influenced the development of the United States of America were wrong.  He said something like “They knew how to start a revolution, but didn’t know what to do with it.”  Mr. Beck then went on to say that Revolutions are not always good destructions, they don’t always leave good behind and these people that are preaching revolution on Wall Street are planning to destroy what is left of America and leave nothing good behind.

I was still shocked that he actually compared this Grass Roots movement to Fascist Brown Shirts.

Beck then played a sound byte of a protestor from Wall Street and then basically agreed on a percentage rating on each point.  1st point he agreed 100%, next point 50%, next point 90%, but when it came to the last part of the protestors sound bite, the protestor said “I think we should burn down The Fed” and Beck explained that the last part was the reason the movement was wrong.  Beck also went on to agree with Ronald Reagan who at some point of his career said “Look, I have seven out of ten things right.  You have to let the last three go.”   Beck still living by the double the standard that what he and his cronies say is right, but everyone else is wrong said “That was okay for Reagan, but not for these dangerous people who are protesting Wall Street.”

That’s when I made up my mind. 

Beck is not against the protest because he doesn’t want change.  Beck is against this occupation because he knows that change is the end of his vanishing career.  That the days of self righteous Right Wing Dogma are numbered and the Left has finally woke up with a fury to inspire people from Suits to U.S. Marines to Homemakers to Small Business Owners to the common, working class people who are not just calling for reform, but for a complete overhaul.

Today at noon, Los Angeles time, I loaded the backseat of my car with pizzas and drove them down to the Occupation Site.  There were tents, signs and people of all walks of life stating their case in a peaceful, calm and organized manner… it was beautiful!

I hung around that area as much as I could and drove back home to get ready for work.  I’d like to be there 24 & 7, but if I don’t work, I can’t pay bills and I’ll be on the next plane out of here.  I can’t toss 8 years of L.A down the drain.  I thought about a lot on the way home… I still hope that the leadership of this revolution will come up with a clear plan of attack for change and reform of the greatest government ever created on this planet.  Revolution is part of the formula that created this amazing country and always will be.  Jefferson said “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”  This nation’s “people of good” have been silent for too long!  Democracy should always be changing and constantly evolving!  It wasn’t until Jimmy Carter got elected and “the old guard” or better known as “The 1 Percent” got scared that a common man could get back into the Oval Office did the 1 Percent start to dismantle this “Great Republic”.  Carter’s election to office scare “The 1 Percent”  and they have  been dismantling this government ever since! 

You will not keep a nation born from revolution in your pocket.  The more you oppress through back door government deals and financial manipulation, the more you fuel the fires of revolution and change!

My ideas for change…

Stop Corporations like Nestle from raping the public of things like their “Water Rites”

Stop funding the Farmers to grow corn for big business to turn into corn syrup.

Fund the Farmers so they can go back to growing food here in the United States at affordable prices so we can all afford to eat and not import from other continents.

End the Bush Tax Credits.

Re-design the Banking System including cutting down the power The Fed.

Bring back jobs that went overseas!

Go back to a Government that regulates business for the better of the “working man”.

Tax big business that uses overseas slave labor.

Boycott Nations that Over Tax U.S. products.

Create a new W.P.A. and re-build F.D.R.’s Great Society.

Pass the New Economic Bill of Rights as drafted by F.D.R.

"economic bill of rights" which would guarantee:

·         Employment, with a living wage,

·         Freedom from unfair competition and monopolies,

·         Housing,

·         Medical care,

·         Education, and,

·         Social security

I love what I saw today on the lawn of City Hall.  I hope it works… for everyone… even you Mister Beck because in a democracy if it works for one, it usually works for all!
