Hello everyone, we are a group of Iranian-American individuals living in Los Angeles who came together to stand in solidarity with the OWS movement and show our support of the Occupy4Iran.org campaign as supporters of the Green Movement in Iran.
On December 11, 2011, we participated in Occupy LA's general assembly at 7:30pm and announced our official support for the OWS movement and wanted to show our solidarity for this movement. We are all together, and we are all the 99%! We are supporters of the Occupy movements happening all across the USA and elsewhere and we are supporters of the peaceful democratic movement in Iran known as the "Green Movement" which flourished after the 2009 rigged presidential elections in Iran.
After more than 2 years, the Iranian people are still active in standing against their government and continue their path to a peaceful and democratic movement in Iran. We are here to support them as Iranian-Americans living abroad. We also show our support to the OWS movement and specifically Occupy LA, for their efforts to take a stand against corporate & political greed caused by the 1%. We are the people and we deserve to have our government represent us as the 99%.
Thank you to Occupy LA for allowing and encouraging us Iranian-Americans to speak at the General Assembly. The amount of support and applause we received from occupiers at Occupy LA was very welcoming and truly unifying. We applaud the peaceful OWS movement in their efforts to make change just like Iranians in Iran trying to make change. 'Together, we can make the change that we want to see in the world'. We have three declarative statements: We support OWS, We support the Green Movement, and We condemn any attacks against the Iranian people. Please take a stand for what is right! You can read the full Occupy 4 Iran manifesto here: http://www.occupy4iran.org/manifesto
Thank you to all freedom fighters, occupiers, and supporters,
"We are the 99%!"
Roya Sabz, a member of Green Iranians in LA
