DEMAND 2

POLITICIANS and LEGISLATION

Outlaw writing individual citizens and businesses into legislation.  Put an end, once and for all, to legislative earmarks.

Limit lobbyist activities to educating legislators about complex issues affecting the public good.  Prohibit every form of gift-giving, travel and favors to legislators.

Close every single loophole and remove every single special treatment clause from the tax code.

Immediately investigate any public servant who leaves office significantly and inexplicably wealthier than when s/he entered.

Consequences of Ignoring our DEMAND 2

DEADLINE: 2012 ELECTIONS

If these demands are not met before the 2012 Congressional elections, we will vote every single incumbent out of office.

Moreover, if the tax loopholes and special treat-ment clauses are not removed from the tax code by this time, we will select a ‘sacred cow’ corporation and every single one of us will boycott that company.

Bear in mind, we are the many – you are the few…

DEMAND 3

THE HOUSING DEBACLE

In cases where homeowners would not qualify today for their mortgages, require the banks holding the mortgages to convert current balances to interest-free debt.  This as the lenders’ consequence for abdicating their responsibility to ensure they lend only to those who can afford to repay.

DEADLINE: JUNE 30, 2012

If this demand is not met by June 30, 2012, every single one of us will stop paying our mortgages until it is.

Bear in mind, we are the many – you are the few…

DEMAND 4

BANKS

Through re-regulation, prohibit retail banks from speculative investing or offering brokerage services, and prohibit investment banks from offering retail banking services.

Require retail banks to retain the loans they make.  Let their futures depend on the quality of their business judgments as lenders.

Consequences of Ignoring our DEMAND 4

DEADLINE: JUNE 30, 2012

If this demand is not met by June 30, 2012, every single one of us will move all of his/her deposits to a credit union.

Bear in mind, we are the many – you are the few…

DEMAND 5

HEALTH CARE

Pass legislation adding the ‘public option’ to the Affordable Care Act.

End the congressional health care program that exceeds what is available to all Americans; require congresspersons to buy their health care in the same marketplace in which we shop for ours.

Consequences of Ignoring our DEMAND 5

DEADLINE: 2012 ELECTIONS

If this demand is not met by the 2012 Congressional elections, we will vote every single incumbent out of office.

Moreover, if this demand is not met by the 2012

Congressional elections, at that point we will stop paying our health care insurance premiums until it is.

Bear in mind, we are the many – you are the few…

DEMAND 6

CORPORATE OVER-REACHING

Require every US corporation to bring every penny of its worldwide profits back to the US every year, and to pay its fair share of US taxes on them.

Outlaw executive compensation that exceeds some reasonable multiple (say 10 times) the average compensation of non-executives.

Assemble a highly sophisticated team of corporate tax experts (capable of matching wits with the tax specialists of the country’s largest corporations) and find and punish very-large-corporate cheats.  Collect back taxes from the corporations those tax cheats served.

Consequences of Ignoring our DEMAND 6

DEADLINE: 2012 ELECTIONS

If these demands are not met by the 2012 Congressional elections, including substantial and visible progress on finding and punishing tax cheats, we will vote every single incumbent out of office.

Moreover, if these demands are not met by the 2012 Congressional elections, we will select an offending corporation to boycott until they are.

Bear in mind, we are the many – you are the few…
