Sunday night November 27th was originally scheduled as the night of eviction for occupiers at City Hall, but instead turned into a place of celebration with visits by Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic ("Born on the Fourth of July"), Michael Beckwith, the dynamic leader of the world renowned Agape International Spiritual Center in Culver City, and his wife and music director Rickie Byars-Beckwith.  Beckwith is one of the spiritual teachers featured in 'The Secret' book series which was first popularized by Oprah Winfrey's book club and also became a movie.

Ron Kovic passionately spoke to his very receptive and peaceful audience about the importance of standing your ground on what you believe and lead the crowd in a chant of the famous chorus from the Woody Guthrie classic 'This Land Is Your Land.'

Beckwith spoke briefly yet passionately about 'the emerging paradigm' which has begun with the Occupy Movement's positions on 'social and economic justice' and like previous spiritual teachers Marianne Williamson and Deepak Chopra who had preceded his visit here, thanked the people of the movement for doing what they are doing. Thank you, he said for 'occupying a new state of consciousness.' The crowd gave him a resounding burst of thunderous applause after hearing that statement which made this writer break out into a wide smile and an enthusiastic response myself! 

Michael Beckwith's wife Rickie Byars-Beckwith who is music director for her husband's congregation lead the crowd in a rousing sing-a-long of "Stayed On Freedom" which was originally written as a gospel song.
