Giving Thanks: Personal Perspective

I write this blog speaking for myself and no one else.

Today is day 55 of Occupy Los Angeles, and we are now facing eviction in the coming week. Today is known to many as "Thanksgiving" but the holiday as it is known to many is a farce. So instead today we celebrate "Giving Thanks" along side our indigenous committee.

There are many things I am thankful for today. I am thankful to all those who have come together from across the globe for the Occupy Movement. I am thankful for the many amazing people I have met through Occupy Los Angeles, many who have already become closer to my heart than my own family. I give thanks I am healthy, and able to be a contributor to this movement. I am thankful to the donors, and volunteers who have helped this movement move forward. I am thankful that the world is finally starting to wake up.

Today I stand in solidarity with the indiginous people, who were evicted from their land. I stand in solidarity with my NY brothers and sisters of Occupy Wall Street, and all the other occupations worldwide who have dealt with violence, and resistance from their cities. I stand in solidarity with all those who have a voice and refuse for it to be silenced.

I am fasting until this evenings feast, much of which the indiginous committee will be supplying. I ask that everyone truly look at and evalutate the things in life they can be thankful for.

Peace & Solidarity
