The web team has been told just don't know when they will?? Will what, Have a forum mod online to delete the post & boot the member??
Web Team, don't you have mods on 24/7, & are they instructed to watch the "New" item's? A spammer post shouldn't be on longer than 5 minutes before being discovered & deleted.
My picture reads
"Sell a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you ruin a perfectly good business opportunity."
Or moderators, just some distracted overworked volunteers who can't attend to this web thing as they'd like to. I'd like to attribute that to the downward spirit spiral I've been picking up reading these forums, but its been like this from Day One. So . . .
The good news is the Home Page is beginning to look half way coherent, although the items featured are not what I'd put up there. The rest of LA that wants to know what is going on so I can plan when to come down there. What is still missing is a basic listing of the daily meetings for committees and affinity groups, and the Donations Needed. Those are the two glaring omissions on this web site. In the past I suggested a quick fix, which was to post on the home page a photo of the boards at the Welcome Tent. I'll do that again: somebody, anybody, walk down there on a daily basis and snap pix of the two main info boards: Meetings Schedule and Donations Needed. Input to the home page. Link each photo to a separate page where it is blown up so people can read the writing. There you go! All over LA the curious, the faithful, the committed (but residing offsite) now exactly when that meeting is coming up they'd like to attend, and what you need donated ASAP.
Okay, nobody can get it together to take 2 pix and do a little basic web site updating. Okay, then can somebody write the info on the palm of their hand and then type it on the web page?
the calendar is pretty up-to-date as far as committee meetings go, please use the drop down box on the calendar page and select 'committee' and apply. boom. go to a committee meeting! there are plenty to choose from! i would suggest following @OLAresources on twitter for current donation needs
As I've mentioned in a few prior post's, I am a proud Administrator on a private site that recently celebrated our 1st year anniversary. We advertise a lot, (I won't here) & our "privacy is pretty open, as invites are available to anyone". My point is, All our staff of nearly 40 of us @ different levels are all volunteer's. We take care of our site because we love & respect it, we have no ads on it & rely strictly on donation's of which every penny pays for our website's monthly fee. We haven't had a problem with spammers or flamers for several month's in our Forum, Blog's or Chat/Shout Box. We have had a few attempts to create problems, but have stopped all attempts in only a few moments, 24/7/352!
What is the difference between the OLA Forum & mine? Probably location, Los Angeles vs. Not Los Angeles plus- Love, Dedication, Responsibility & Commitment to what we volunteered for, no self pity, no bringing attention to my overworked attitude, no expectation's or wanting people to acknowledge my time & energy spent.
Love & believe in what you volunteered for, or resign. If you feel like your being taken advantage of, resign. If you feel as if your taking advantage of other's resign. But if you feel as if you can do more, than do more, don't ask, just do.

Constructive criticism is what I've been weened on most of my life, I know it can be a slippery slope or a deep cut to some. So with that noted I extend my sincere apologies to those who may need them.

Thanks for the tip, but why isn't this info on the HOME PAGE?

At least put that Calendar page drop down box on the home page. Or another way to link to that information from the Home Page.
Moderators, just some distracted overworked volunteers, NO!
