Video: This man speaks truth

This is Juan, we are occupying Los Angeles with him. So many people have tried to silence him. I think we should let Juan speak. Apparently so did the person who made this video of Juan at the occupation. Watch this video, and you can read Juans book here http://issuu.com/dollhousedude/docs/free_and_clear1

You're joking, right? At a bare minimum

the individual known as 'Juan' should be subject to the most severe censure by the General Assembly for his persistent, deliberate and continual violations of process during the General Assembly of Saturday, November 12, 2011. At a maximum, Juan should be subject to immediate expulsion from the Occupy Los Angeles community.

I will be introducing a motion\proposal that the OLA GA censure Juan at this afternoon's Facilitation Committee meeting, if you would care to debate me on the issue then.

If my proposal were met with many hard blocks, as

you promise, why that would merely show that, as Orwell put it, all are created equal but some are more equal than others.

Here's what Juan did on Saturday, November 12, 2011. He repeatedly and without cause crashed the mic, jumping himself ahead of people who had been waiting patiently in stack for 30-45 minutes to speak. When others were speaking and making points that he disagreed with, Juan loudly and obnoxiously informed the entire GA and the person speaking of his disagreement. What, is Juan too good for stack? Or is Juan more equal than others?

I can promise you that there are many at OLA who were and are VERY DISPLEASED with his anti-democratic behavior. Or were we all missing when the GA gave Juan the title of Court Jester (aka "Buffoon"). not subject to the same rules as the rest of us mere mortals???

Give me a friggin' break.

I think that a lot of people

I think that a lot of people continually violate GAs...I hear it every night, mostly by people yelling "mic check" repeatedly when they dislike someone talking.

Dissent is the highest form of patriotism. -Howard Zinn

I love it..lol

everyone has a voice and he has some very good things to say..I love it..lol why cant he say what he wants to say, he may not say as eloquent as other, but he gets his message across..lol

I think he's a disruptive nut

I think he's a disruptive nut. However, during some heated, circuitous debate at the GA, he'll scream:

Look at you… arguing so passionately… about nothing! Shut the fuck up!

It sort of brings people back down to earth. He's stated his case already, so you know he's not some suburban-tribal-libertarian jerk-off trying to steer the conversation to the fed, or Ron Paul, or sitting in a circle(jerk) and singing folk songs.

There are times when I wish he'd give it a rest, though.

Did the GA authorize Juan to make editorial

comments at large on others' thoughts and to order them around ("Shut the fuck up!')??

If control of the floor goes to he with the loudest voice and\or the most swagger, why then OLA is no better than Broward County, FL November 2000 (when Repuke brownshirts stopped the legal counting of votes and, in so doing, mortally wounded the sacred prinicple of 'one man, one vote').

Rules-wise, you're right. But

Rules-wise, you're right. But it's also true that talks often break down when stubborn people butt heads. The scene easily degenerates to something not resembling a GA at all, where chanting "Mic check!" does no good.

I've also seen problems averted because Juan took the wind out of somebody's sails.

I consider it one of those grey areas. We definitely don't want more than one Juan, but tolerating his outbursts sometimes doesn't seem that bad.

Maybe they should just let him speak here and there. His comments are usually really brief.

OMG I hate spammers...... Juan is a Spammer, a GA spammer.....

But Hold On!

Wait a minute, Do the spammers have as much right here in the forums to shout out their useless, obtrusive disruptive messages at us, just as some people think that the disruptive JUAN has the right to do at the GAs just because he can draw breath and spew it back?  Is that NOT unlike the creeps that come in here, and because they can type and invade our forums, they disrupt our digital discussions with their SHIT?  Do the spammers and Juan have the right to disrupt OLA process we WORK so hard at?  I say HELL NO to both instances.
THAT is the category I put Juan into. He is just another fucking spammer who looses all right to any cognitive message he might have by spamming us with ALL his shit ALL the time.

How say you on that?

We ALL Love America… We want the broken government fixed….. Rancho Larry

Well, there actually is one

Well, there actually is one very important difference between Juan and the spammers: Juan is in fact a human being who draws breath, and the spammers are not.  They are bots.  They are lines of code.  I LOL a little (in a shaking-my-head kind of way) every time people respond to them...then I remember that I was new to the Internet once. :)

Rancho Larry's picture

Juan kinda behaves like a Bot too...

I'm glad I did not have to live with him on the LAWNS or I might have tried to delete him myself at some point.  Besides SOMEONE who drew breath wrote the fucking code for the bots. JA?  THAT is the asshole I'd like to get a hold of, the SPAMMER.

OT, but in addition to

there not being a way to report spammers with a little icon by the posts (the contact form doesn't appear to work), the search feature that used to be at the bottom of the  pages seems to have been removed or moved, making it harder to find spam posts to report them should one want to.

Once some troll really puts their heart into spamming this site, all bets are off.
