On November 13th and 14th, 2012, students across California will be mobilizing in OPPOSITION to the decline of public education in what used to be the most sought after system of public education in the nation. On this day we will be PROTESTING the following fees that have been proposed by Chancellor Reed and which will be voted on at the meeting: 1) The Graduation Incentive Fee in which "super-seniors" will need to pay $372 PER UNIT for those who have 150 units (semester campus) or 225 units (quarter cam
pus) to finish their degrees.
2) Course Repeat Fee in which every student that would like to or needs to repeat a class will have to pay $100 PER UNIT for that class.
3) Added Units Fee in which any student wishing to take more than 16 units per semester will have to pay $200 PER “EXTRA” UNIT.
We are calling on ALL STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, COMMUNITY MEMBERS and SUPPORTERS to mobilize with us to defeat the passing of these fees!!
Please contact your LOCAL SQE CHAPTER for more information on transportation and plans of mobilization - please get in touch with them if we can count on you to be there!!
Last year on November 16th, at UCLB Students protested, and were dragged into a building and arrested, but it was said they were "rushing in" one student faced really serious charges stemming from a broken glass door that led to assault on an officer charges. I personally was not there, but after it happened, a few occupiers and UCLB students came back to camp with footage, which in turn Margot Paez made this News Report showing what ACTUALLY happened at the protest, contrary to what the officals were saying.
Here is the video Link to her report: http://youtu.be/Y7jbBpdm_dQ
