Monday, November 12th, 2012 @ 7-9 PM.~~ Please Occupy 453 S. Spring St., 2nd floor.

I would have announced this sooner, but I just found out about it. 22 hours after the time I started writing this, there is going to be a Candidate Platform for the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council. If you don't know which candidates are supporting Occupy, that would be a good reason to show up. If you're part of Occupy and live in the Los Angeles ares, then you have an interest in Downtown. I'm running for the position of Arts, Cultural, and Education Interests Director non the #DLANC and although I still think Occupy Los Angeles has some shaping up to do, I am a strong Occupy supporter, part of the Occupy movement, in support of Occupy Los Angeles, and a long time activist fighting for a better world for everyone.QUALIFICATIONS TO VOTE FOR THE SEAT:  Stakeholders who are at least 16 years of age with arts, cultural, and educational interests within the DLANC boundaries. THIS INCLUDES ALL OF OCCUPY LOS ANGELES SINCE THE GENERAL ASSEMBLIES ARE HELD DOWNTOWN!

I believe we can make a difference but NO ONE WAY should be counted on to to the trick. "Don't carry all your eggs in one basket", is another way of looking at it... so please help me to do what I can to get a few changes for the better made in our government by acting at some OFFICIAL level. In fact, please support ALL candidates who support the people! It may not be the ideal many of us are aiming for, but it's a start.

We've gotten way too exculsionary and it's hurt our movement badly. I know pwoplw are worried about infiltrators, but if we absorb the best of what everyone can teach us and share what we like most about it, infiltrating our movement can only help us make it stronger. Now it's time we infiltrate our own government, openly and with the best of intentions. Teach them to be better for the people so that the good in our system doesn't have to die with the evil that's gotten so many people pissed off and fighting back. It's not ALL salvagable, but as long as some of it is, that part is worth saving and making grow into something that can take the place of those parts which are NOT worth saving, so that the transition can go as smoothly as possible for everyone. IF that plan fails, there's ALWAYS the revolution to fall back on, but personally I would rather have progress than regress. Let's try this, shall we?
