Hello,
People from other Occupy sites around the nation ask me for advice and help. I have had the pleasure of sharing my knowledge (which is law) to Occupiers all over the nation.
I am looking for others who would like to share their areas of expertise, whether it is food or medical or media or what-have-you. Please, friendly, non-hostile people ONLY. ALSO, all contributors must be deeply committed to peaceful, lawful protest.
My area of expertise is the law, and I have a blog that is filled with advice on How to PLan a Peaceful Protest or Occupation, which is read by people all over the world. I would like guest blog writers on areas such as: FOOD, MEDIA, MEDICAL, TENTS, GARDEN, CONSTRUCTION, MUSIC, PLANNING, ETC. Focus is the KEY to any Occupation, Never lose sight of Job One right Now
One common thing true Occupiers all seem to share is the belief that and the passion for the fact that the American People have been duped, wronged and stolen from. Maybe they don’t understand all the Whos The Whys and Details, but they feel WRONGED in every fiber of their body.
Think about that as FACT for a moment, that we the American People have been duped, wronged and stolen from. IF YOU can accept that AS FACT, then you have the underlying foundation of belief required for joining or supporting your local OWS, or what ever this movement will become when it grows and matures a little more.
This is real important, that do YOU believe as FACT we, the American People have been duped, wronged and stolen from! It is also important, real important that you KNOW AS FACT that the First Amendment establishes the absolute RIGHT of the people (hey the 99% anyway) to Peaceably Assemble for, well here read it for your self:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
What is Occupy Wall Street ANYWHERE USA ALL about right now? Establishing the Legitimacy of the movement to Meet, Assemble, and redress their grievances. Once that question has been settled both IN and OUT of court, the real ground work is laid. When it is established that local codes are being used against legitimate Occupy members assembled peacefully to regress grievances, they will be over ruled, as seems to be the case in Nashville recently. Because: Originally, the First Amendment applied only to laws enacted by the Congress. However, starting with Gitlow v. New York, 268 U.S. 652 (1925), the Supreme Court has held that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment applies the First Amendment to each state, including any local government.
Job One, remain peacefully assembled and redress your grievances with your signs, not rocks or bottles or fists. Please advise ALL Occupiers to remain under the PROTECTION of the first amendment during this process.
