Occupy Oakland has declared a general strike on November 2nd in response to police brutality. They intend to shut down the Port of Oakland, which is the fifth largest port in the Untied States and the third largest on the wesside (after Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach).
We have not (yet) agreed to any such action to shut down the ports at Occupy L.A. Perhaps we should, or perhaps such an action would be damaging to our movement. In the meantime, we can spread the word about how to support the General Strike is starting in Oakland. One easy way to support this action by calling in sick tomorrow (November 2). The SEIU recommends that, rather than striking, workers negotiate with their employers to get the day off. If your boss is sympathetic to the international struggle for peace and justice, then she might give you the day off. If not, then maybe you can pretend to have a cold or something.

I'll show my support by not

I'll show my support by not buying anything tomorrow. I can't suggest pretending "to have a cold or something" because I can't support lying. I'm poor, integrity is all I got.

Encourage integrity and ethics with every move

Thanks Supersean for your post...right on!
@ Danill... I don't understand the thinking behind encouraging those who are hurting financially to call out sick and how that will stop police brutality. Let's respond with the highest degree of ethics and integrity and model what that looks like rather than mirroring their behavior.
Peace and solidarity.
