Support for Occupy Los Angeles grew (gracefully) with the arrival of renowned actress Rosanna Arquette who toured the area and providing a number of photo-ops for Occupy Los Angeles and everyone else who was lucky enough to be present. She summed up her feelings by saying: "Greed is not the American way", after doing all she could in a very limited time frame to show her support, including joining us on the OWSLosAngeles LiveStream.
She provided the following statement for our LiveStream audience and this blog: "We are just here as a reminder that there was a time that paying your fair share was the patriotic thing to do. It was the American way. Now we have obliterated our middle class. We are not here to demonize anyone. Some of the closest people in my life are at the top of the 1%. We believe everyone deserves to make money and realize the American dream. Greed is not patriotic".
Thank you Ms. Arquette for your words, your time, your presence and your support. Occupy Los Angeles has been blessed again.
Meanwhile, a protest spun off from the Occupy Los Angeles group. These demonstrations were planned by other groups in the area and were endorsed by Occupy Los Angeles General Assembly.

Disagreed with one of your position.

I support your cause but I do not agreed with one of your position. Open Borders that is impossible our great country cannot handle a hugh influx of people from all over the world not just from Mexico I mean this planet. Open borders will have a great impact on our economy, schools, hospitals and social welfare and social security systems. I strongly believe we need to take care of our own citizens in our own country first. Everyone deserves a future but America cannnot support everyone who wants to enter this country. I want a job but I must first learn spanish in order to get a job in Cali. Why? I was born here. Have u look at TV lately? There are many Spanish stations so why should anyone want to learn English. JOBS are being outsource to countries outside our borders. Take a look at what businesses and corporations who are hiring contractors from foreign countries. These jobs are good paying jobs for our own citizens. American businesses have left this country to set up their businesses in foreign soil and they in trun import their goods to American and we pay a higher fee. Slap a big import tax on them. If your group support the Tea Party then I do not want any part of your organization. The current Republican candidates lacked interity, honesty, but believed insults is the way to get elected. Beautiful intentions for recovery of our country requires a great platform of wisdom.

Well the US is a nation of immigrants isn't it? Who's to say who should and shouldn't be in US? As for jobs being outsourced to Latin America, who but the US government is responsible for that? Who profits from that if not US corporations?

Greed is not patriotic !

That is the important part of her statement that you left out. It explains the context of what was said preceding.
We must understand basic economics, which means 'house managing' in the original. ...There is nothing inherently wrong or evil about doing something productive ...making a needed product or providing a service to opthers, and then trading it for money. There is also nothing inherently wrong or evil about making a 'reasonable' profit . What IS unconscionable is the massive accumulation of wealth that stultifies economies and actually prevents commerce.
What is integral to a prosperous civilization is NOT a concentrated few making inordinate sums of money. For there to be a good society , it is requisite that there be a healthy 'flow' of business. A good society taxes those with stores of wealth IN ORDER to help create this flow.
To put the numbers into a perhaps more comprehensible way: Theoretically, a BILLIONAIRE is a person or ENTITY that owns at least $1,000,000,000. Currently, the Federal Minimum Wage is $7.25 an hour. So, a BILLIONAIRE owns 137,931,030 hours of labor ...which is 5,747,126 DAYS ...which is 15,745 YEARS.
That is longer than the known historical record of human culture ! It is this GREED that IS wrong and EVIL.
What has happened is that a reverse revolution has been allowed to happen in the USA,to where we now find the vast majority as the population did in colonial America, where the ordinary people were being TAXED out of their productivity and sent overseas to a power elite, and the people had NO representation. Today, we have mock representation, a rump group that represents their corporate masters, and NOT "WE, the People".
The very same causes that inspired the Second Continental Congress to unanimously Declare their Independence and Separation from those oppressive powers now exist today in a different form. This day, it is not a foreign sovereign, or nation, or royal class that enslaves us; but it is a class of ECONOMIC ROYALISTS that think they RULE.
We, the 99% ...the PEOPLE, must read the Declaration of Independence ...the Constitution ...and then ACT like our Founding Patriots did.

The bible talks a lot about greed and it's destruction of the poor; that it can only occur at the expense of others; that many would be trodden down and trampled upon and crushed so that others could prosper, and that one day this beast that controls this whole world will be destroyed, and in it's place a governmet will emerge that will usher in righteousness, justice, fairness, and mercy.
