OccupyLA Begins Tomorrow - Transportation and How to Get There

kv's picture

Downtown has MANY parking rules and regulations, so if possible, leave your vehicle at home and go Metro or plan to carpool with your fellow occupiers. Here's some parking/metro info to make your trek to the occupation as smooth (and inexpensive) as possible. If anyone has additional info, please let me know via the comments and I'll add it here.

STREET CLOSURES:

Spring to Main St will be closed off on 1st and 1st to 2nd will be closed off on Main St. The only acces to the location is from Temple St side to Spring St from the North. All other streets surrounding City Hall will be closed for the entire day, due to a pre-existing event.

METRO:

-If you're coming from the Valley, park at North Hollywood or Universal Station and ride the Rail to Pershing Square Station (after noon, ride until the next stop at Civic Center station).

-West Valley folks can catch the Metro Orange Line at Warner Center/Canoga/De Soto and ride to NoHo Station.

-The Purple and Red Line rails will take you directly to Pershing Square and Civic Center Station. Check these maps to see which Rail station is close to you.

-Santa Monica and Westside people can take the Metro Rapid Line 720 [Commerce Center] to the 6th St/Hope St & Grand Ave stop.

PARKING:

-If you must bring a vehicle, there is an underground parking structure at Pershing Square. All-day weekend parking is $5.

-DowntownLA.com has a list of available parking lots located downtown posted here

Please let me know if you know more efficient ways of getting there, and I'll post all parking/transportation info I receive in this post.

Thank you all so much for your hard work, enthusiasm and love! Hope to see you all in DTLA tomorrow morning!
