Sixties activist and former state senator Tom Hayden toured the Occupy Los Angeles encampment on Tuesday. He made a lap around the City Hall park observing and speaking with some of the Occupy Los Angeles habitants, then offered a few comments on what he saw. “This is a tremor. I don’t know if it’s a quake, but the media should let the baby be delivered. Get out of the delivery room. There’s too many pseudo-scientists trying to name it and make predictions,” according to Hayden who has a lot of experience to rely upon. He was widely regarded a key activist in the 60’s long before he became a state assemblyman and then a state senator in California.

Get out of the delivery room

I disagree with "occupy" being a tremor. For what I saw yesterday in the general assembly there is still lot of fear and not enough vision that Occupyla needs to grow and extends its roots from the "friendly" city hall to other places to extend it. People are watching for clear directions from Occupyla and unfortunately saw
too many disagreements.
I visited Occupy on 10-11 and spent four hours.

PARTICIPATION needed in meetings by experiemced activists, including experience with consensus.
This website needs work in its form and content...still no link to livestream.
Occupy needs to put out the word for whatever is needed...people are waiting to help.
We Need a Network of Mac Computer's and a Server
Submitted by ep021765 on
If you know anyone or company that's willing to donate or lend 6 networkable Mac desk top computers and a server that would be great. Media needs to streamline. Media needs to get all computers on the same page and move content from camera to the web as fast as possible. A better system will allow for better transparency. Better transparency will help ensure the survival of the movement.

On the topic of consensus
Submitted by C.J. CODEPINK on
Jayron, I agree with you on the need for more people with experience with consensus. I cringe when people call for votes and then label what they're doing consensus. I was at City Hall all day yesterday (spoke during the council meeting and stayed through the end of GA) and I plan to be back in person on Monday. Anyway, wanted to let you know I wrote some thoughts about what consensus means.
And I look forward to participating in person as much as I can. I'm balancing this with planning my wedding on October 23, which is why I can't be at City Hall all the time, but I am so excited by what we're building.
