TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN RUN RUN Action Proposal

TAKE THE MONEY AND RUN RUN RUN is a two-phased action plan against large retail banks. It requires Occupants to peacefully demonstrate at branches of major retail banks, informing 99 PerCenters to withdraw monies from these banks and close  their accounts.  They will be direct to the Occupy Los Angeles site where representatives from various credit unions will be on hand to provide information on transferring accounts or be given information regarding online enrollment.

DEFINITIONS

"99 PerCenters" are all those citzens who are NOT of the enriched, but unenlightened unbenevolent, class of wealth owners.

"Occupants" are all those 99 PerCenters engaged and participating in Occupations in protest all around the world.

"Retail banks" are the banks and savings & loans institutions where 99 Percenters traditionally hold most of the checking savings and loans.  These business conglomeratese are owned by shareholders and typically charge abnormally excessive fees for  the most mundane charges.  "Credit unions" offer similar services, but these are owned by the membership typically residing in the community and operating as a non-profit offer services at a more competitive rates.

TEAMS REQUIRED

SIGN PAINTING TEAM

Occupants will paint signs to the effect:

• 99 PERCENTERS!! CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNTS WITH THE GREEDY CORPORATE BANKS!!

• 99 PERCENTERS!! TRANSFER FUNDS TO A LOCAL CREDIT UNION!!

• Credit Union REPRESENTATIVES AT OCCUPY LA SITE City Hall LA !!

• YOU ARE A 99PER CENTER. THE BANKS ARE OWNED BY 1 PER CENTERS!!!

PROTEST TEAMS

• Occupants will be split into groups and disbursed to various retail bank branches for a peaceful demonstration

• Protest action will continue until it can be confirmed that action will break on evening news.

• Care must be given to avoid trespassing Bank's private property and stay in public areas. Nothing is to be gained by getting arrested or being overly aggressive

• Designated spokespersons will explain who 99 PerCenters are and why they should close their accounts.

• 99Per Centers will be directed to stop by the Occupy LA campsite for info or to look online.

CREDIT UNION TEAM

• Occupants will be needed to inform Credit unions that they need to be on the Occupy LA site to enroll new customers and handle Q&A.

• Credit Unions must bring their own tables and chairs

• It is imperative credit unions assume this 3rd party role

RETAIL BANK TEAM

• Occupants will identify bank branches for protest action.

   

TIMELINE

• Sun – Tues. Paint and construct signs.
• Mon – Wed Identify banks for protest action. Identify Credit unions to list.
• Thurs – Fri Protest action and CU enrollments
• The protest and enrollment activity can be an ongoing effort

SUCCESS METRIC

The action will be deemed a success if:

• Short term: If 99PerCenters show up at OLA site and credit union open account

• Long term: Retail Banks change policies or shut down
