As a member of Occupy LA I suppose I have a unique view of the whole thing compared to those who don’t encamp. I spent over 40 days living in front of city hall in down town LA. The reason they gave for raid was health and safety. They have been framing the occupations as unsafe and unclean. I have seen news articles claiming all sorts of things to that affect. The reason they are making such claims is to garner the support from those who have the same grievances but don’t want to be subjected to such conditions.
Occupy Los Angeles joined Occupy San Fernando today, thanks to Facebook, to protest Rep. Howered Berman(D) of California’s 28th district. He serves as a congressman who is supposed to represent the people. He, along with most of the other members of congress, voted to pass the NATIONAL DEFENSE AUTHORIZATION ACT of 2012.
“Thank you for coming tonight, to your Political Action update” I yelled through the bull horn. The action was spreading the word about the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012. We got there at about 4pm. The action was scheduled from 3 to 7pm, so we were late. We saw the signs flying high on the corner of Wilshire and Sepulveda. We handed out fliers and talked to people that walked up and down the street. I, along with 3 others, used bull horns to communicate with the people in their cars.
Tuesday, November 29, 2011, the LAPD decided to raid Occupy Los Angeles, despite the statement by Mayor Villagossa that he supports the encampments right to assemble. We got a report from NBC that hundreds of Police Officers, along with busses and riot gear, were staging at Dodger Stadium. We sent out the word to everyone we could. I wonder why the Unions didn’t show up? But that’s a question better asked of our union organizer.
Occupy Los Angeles is getting raided tonight. I am going to be there to get you inside video of how it all goes down. If you can make it,Please come on down. If you cant come down please watch.
Eviction Time 12:01am Monday Morning
The authorities are going to give us some time to pack. My phone will start up as soon as stuff starts. If I can get some video of raid prep I will. I'm just worried about my batteries life.
