Dear Occupy Supporter:
In accordance with their long history of allowing protest, Rose Parade and Pasadena officials have authorized the Occupy the Rose Parade movement to march at the end of the parade, after all the floats have passed and the phalanx of police cars moves through, but while the crowd is still in place. The tea party won't be on hand and Occupy activists said this was a disappointment. Organizer Pete Thottam said "We consider them our brothers and sisters in arms in our fight to take back control of our country. Occupy activists are training at least 40 volunteers, outfitted in brightly colored vests, to talk to marchers and urge them to remain calm."
The Occupy Movement is a peaceful one, and at the Rose Parade this year you have Occupiers gathering from all over the the state and country to ask that the world stand in solidarity with them. The Occupiers are a diverse group of non-violent people, who have joined together to make their voices heard. They are your mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and children. They are of every race, and nationality, and religious background. They are your friends and neighbors. This movement is supported by the teachers, the nurses, many professors, religious leaders, authors, public speakers, college students, high school students, community organizations, political parties, labor groups, including unions, and a long list of others.
The Rose Parade is a long time venue to voice injustice, the Occupiers love to march, and are very colorful, and cheerful, and excited to do it. They have already made banners, signs, and human floats. In working with the proper venues to participate in the parade, will be there to hand out information, educate people, and join in on the general parade festivity. I am sure you have all heard about the famous drum circles at occupy encampments, well they go mobile too. All musicians are encouraged to participate.
There are four phases of activities scheduled, if you would like to get involved CLICK HERE FOR FULL INFO ON HOW TO PARTICIPATE
