Suggest removing political party poll

Forums:

I am of the opinion we should have the poll "Do you agree with the suggestion by Anonymous that the movement should become a registered political party?" removed from the forums.

Even if there were consensus on the poll (which there is not), turning Occupy into a political party will *affect every Occupy movement in the USA* and possibly abroad. Folks can already form a political party if they want to, separate from Occupy. I would urge folks to think on this: Occupy isn't a political party and if LA registered it as such and decided to make it a political party it could very well ruin things for tens of thousands of others elsewhere who have *not* decided that this is a political party. Why force that onto the whole movement?

The world is watching, and even though each Occupy site is mostly autonomous, the actions of one as seen by the world can affect them all.

To me, the idea of LA turning Occupy into a party on it's own is absurd for many reason and most of all hurtful towards all other Occupy movements world-wide.

I disagree, but...

I don't think that Occupy should become a political party. EVER.

I just disagree with removing it because I think it produced some interesting and much-needed discussion about where we are heading in the future.

I will find a way or make one. DIY or die. Occupy reality.

Good point but...

Good point but if this movement does end up becomong a political party, (and I am sure the Corporatocracy/Govt is keeping their fingers crossed that it does) this is where "WE" part ways. For me personally, the Occupy movement is just one avenue for making people aware of the fact that there is something very wrong with our system. It is inspiring to see what the people are capable of when they come together and I have no doubt we are capable of making some tremendous changes, but if this ever becomes a political party, all of this will have been in vain. My movement did not begin with occupy LA/Wallstreet nor will it end here. I will stand in solidarity with this movement until it gives me reason not to. If it does give me reason not to, then I will continue on with the fight, even if that means I'll be standing alone. But yeah, that poll is bugging the crap outta me. I for one would love to see some different polls.

The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves - in their separate, and individual capacities. -Abe
