Day of Unification

The International Day of Action commences with protestors around the world expressing their dissatisfaction, primarily with the dominant financial institutions.

With the exception of some rioting in Rome, the Occupation Movement continues to follow a peaceful path towards unity. This unification is not the result of a special networking arrangement. These protests are spontaneous, local uprisings, led in principle by our brothers and sisters in Zuccotti Park who have shown so much dedication and leadership. The police continue to be the aggressors. New video from New York can be found at this link:

Here at Occupy Los Angeles, we have seen more instigators arriving daily. These people have made overt attempts to disrupt committee meetings, the General Assembly and sometimes our media efforts as well. Unfortunately, our “security” force is limited, but they deal with these issues the best they can under the circumstances.

This is to be expected, especially when one considers the broad support the Occupation Movement enjoys beyond the boundaries of the encampments. There are many existing organizations that would like to co-opt the movement. There are many individuals who have come to express their contempt for our efforts and our message.

On this day of global unification, let us remember what brought us together, and separate ourselves from our adversaries by sending a clear message that this is a peaceful revolution; that we are here to express the will of the 99% who cannot be here with us; that we will move forward with dignity and composure regardless of the obstacles we encounter.

is it seditious to think that

is it seditious to think that maybe its better to unite the world under one system. perhaps instead of having institutions such the european union or the united states of america, we can construct a united federation of the people.. just a thought.

OWS, join Obama Supporters Videos/ Song!

I believe Barack Obama will be known as the M.L.K. of our day & will continue to bring the world together to progress it like never before. In my own way, I want to play a big part in this major place in our history. People need help all around the world. There's one song for everyone & everything! For Obama 2012, I'm inviting Occupy Wall Street to be in my Obama Supporters Videos/ Song of celebrities, people of places named after Obama & Obama supporters posting a video of themselves singing the chorus of Obama For The World (world's Obama tribute song)! ITunes! For Obama's change & America's freedom! 50% of the sales will go to OWS protesters & Obama For America. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=KaAeSaj-xJc                         http://nycga.cc/donate https://donate.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/2012/davidking http://www.tunecore.com/music/david-king

WE are the message !

"For What It's Worth"  defined the 'protests' then as "...people carrying signs, mostly saying 'Hooray for our side' ".

What a difference 40 years make. Yeah, we still carry signs ...but there are so many thoughtful, concise, appropriate, unspinnable and coherent messages contained that are being effective and creating our own dynamic. A new laboratory of democracy has been generated, and NO one invented it.

Three weeks ago, September 29, I was a lone and anonymous sign carrier at our local farmer's market. one side says TAX the RICH, the reverse has the website: http://occupywallst.org  .  This was a mostly silent demonstration. I did not intend to get into arguments. I was so incognito that people that know me had no idea who I was underneath.

Since then, the movement here has grown exponentially, as everywhere else. Yesterday, at least 400 attendees were part of the Courthouse steps Open Peoples Mic and subsequent march through the downtown business district, starting at Bank of America, circling Chase , and then coming back to the Courthouse.  Relations with the relatively few cops were totally cool. Many local establishments and their customers responded with immediate support. Passing motorists gave Arkansas salutes. Even the BOA minimum wage SG was in good spirits ( he's a 99%, too, and knows it ).

Congrats to the 10,000 in Los Angeles for a healthy ATTEST.

I'm against aligning with either of the two political parties.

I'm against the idea of using the Occupy Movement to support any politician at this time. Obama has a proven track record of supporting Wall Street to the tune of billions leaving the people to fend for themseves. I will not be voting for him. He's part of the broken structure, I'd like to to see come undone. I have little hope that we can bring about change through the existing political parties. We'll have to form a sort of a government of our own. I don't know how this can be done but we could start boycotting these two parties.

I couldn't agree with you more.

If politicians would only adhere to the their sworn oath to uphold the Constitution and the laws then we would not be in this problem. our children would not  inherent a debt that they could not even be able to pay off the interest.

Robert kennedy spoke out against retro active immunity..."QUOTE" (The very idea of "retroactive immunity" ... is so radical, so repugnant to the most basic principles of the "rule of law," that only one prior attempt can be found in recent history (at least from my research): the efforts by some in Congress (in 1965) to enact a law retroactively legalizing the mergers by six large banks which clearly -- as a federal court found -- were illegal under our nation's antitrust laws.

The banks knew when they merged that they were almost certainly violating anti-trust laws. But they did it anyway. And when courts began ruling that their behavior was illegal, they ran to Congress to demand that a law be passed granting them amnesty, claiming that the consequences would be ruinous if they were held accountable under the law. )

But the very concept of retroactive amnesty, the idea that corporations could break the law and then have Congress pass a special law legalizing their lawbreaking conduct, was so profoundly offensive to Sen. Robert Kennedy (who had been the Attorney General when the banks broke the law with their mergers), as well as then-Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach, that they engaged in extraordinary efforts to try to put a stop to this Congressional travesty.

If Robert Kennedy was able to stop them at that time in our history then we would most certainly not be in this possition today. What will happen in the future now that it is legal for judges to take bribes?

How could you bring evidence of corruption and violations of the LAW when you have a court that has been granted RETRO ACTIVE IMMUNITY for taking bribes.

The change must start with the courts. Without a fair and unbiased court you can not have JUSTICE, YOU CAN NOT HAVE THE RIGHT OF DUE PROCESS. In the constitution the right to due process is stated over and over again. Our founding fathers knew the dangers when judges could be bought. They knew the dangers when the financial institutions became too big.

HISTORY OF RETRO ACTIVE IMMUNITY IN THE UNITED STATES

1. given for unconstitutional use of torture

2. given for illegal merger of banks (we can see the effects of that now)

3. given to telecom company for illegal wire taps. (Fisa bill that led to the patriot act)

4. given to Judges for taking bribes. (SBX211)
