Rep. Waxman

Forums:

What could be incredibly helpful in the forming of solutions and demands, is local CA Rep. Henry Waxman.  He has served on the Oversight Committee for many years, KNOWS how the Ethics Committee ignores the Committee's recommendations for pressing charges, fines, penalties over and over again...has served for many years and knows how the system works; and had appeared to be an upstanding politician (a rarity today).

His input could be invaluable to the movement.

"There is in the nature of government an impatience of control that disposes those invested with power to look with an evil eye upon all external attempts to restrain or direct its operations. This has its origin in the love of power. Representatives of the people are not superior to the people themselves." - Alexander Hamilton - Federalist Paper No.15, 1787.

Henry Waxman

I remember calling Henry Waxman office during the Bailout!!!!!  He ignored the voice of the people during the crisis.  I dont want to see another politician who supported the bailout and went against the public option on the health care bill. Waxman and Pelosi are trying to co-op the movement that is attempting to find NEW Solutions . Inviting politicians that have been on the other side against the people is no way to find  solutions and no way to build trust and attract new people to the movement.

You Can't Do Better Than Waxman.

This guy has supported every progressive movement there ever was. He's my congressman.  I never have to write him and urge him to do the right thing because he's always already doing it without urging.

Fareside23, you sound like Madame DeFarge demanding the heads of aristocrats as she knits in her chair, not distinguishing between the real pricks and the friends of the people.  Some good progressives had to support the Tarp bail-out because there was no other politically feasible way to keep the ATM spitting out money at the time. George Bush was still president, if you recall.  Of course, the proper thing would have been to seize the banks.  However, in a country that calls Obama-care "socialism," how would you ever expect that to pass?  Do you think Bush would signed on to that?  Instead we had to swallow the bitter pill of Tarp to keep the whole economy from exploding worse than it did.

You are either a right-wing extremist or a dyed-in-the-wool Maoist not to like Waxman.  The 99% has no better friend in Congress.  This guy deserves our unreserved gratitude and respect.  He's not a pretty boy, but he's gorgeous.
