Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation

For starters, I think it would be helpful if everyone posting on here would please take the time and effort to use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.  Other than that, I think trying to obscure basic messages by using cryptic psuedo-intelligent language is unproductive to spreading the word.  People should not have to learn some special lingo to speak or read about things such as the need for jobs, housing, and healthcare.

Earlier, someone on here had offered to copy edit the comments and blogs that need it.  That sounds like a good plan.  I am reading the comments and seeing so many errors of spelling, grammar and punctuation.  First things first.

STAY ON TASK

A simple reminder to those who feel a need to deflect from our task @ hand in re-establishing the basic fairness & equality rights back into the life of "The 99%", by attempting to ridicule & embarrass people for their spelling, into silence & non-participation of the very movement that offer's to embrace them. Elitist attitudes are a cancer in the basic development of an all inclusive call to arm's for the defense to our freedom & democracy of all. Solidarity, no matter how it's spelled, has the same definition in the heart's & minds of those who pursue it sincerely.

Maybe some of the people who are guilty of your indictment are new to the English language, do we ask them not to comment until their spelling & grammar are acceptable to you, maybe take a "Forum Participation Approval & Acceptance Test", or maybe we can alienate the immigrant's & poor speller's to a "special section" of the Forum's.

We have no room for ridicule through or by Elitist's here, we are already battling their doctrine of privilege & advantage that brought us to this revolution.

STAY ON TASK OR GET OUT OF THE WAY!

hmmm.

I don't think I agree Sue. I understand the sentiments, but the execution of them is bound to exclude people. I thought this movement was for everyone's benefit, whether they can spell and punctuate or not.

Spelling, Etc.

I do not mean to limit anyone's communications.  I applaud anyone who is doing their best to communicate.

I am sensitive to the fact that many people are not skilled writers.  That is why publications hire copy editors.  There was a man earlier volunteering to do this for free on these pages.   That is why I am asking what happened to him.  Is he still around?

 I applaud anyone writing and sharing.  However, when communications can be seen by the press and can be quoted, it is a good idea to have them done right.  As explained earlier, a major press news article took a quote from this site, and it was full of errors.  Yes, the news article was mocking it.  I think this must have been very hurtful for the person who wrote the post.  However, when a website is public, it can be quoted by the press.

I do not mean to insult or scare away anyone who is struggling to learn how to spell and use punctuation.  These are not easy things.   I also do not want these people to face public embarrassment, as happened when someone's post was quoted in the press article. That's why I am saying, if that man is still offering free help, why not say yes?

  Or do you think it is okay to open people up to public humiliation?  I do not think it is a good thing.  It made me feel very sad for the person who was being mocked.

spell check on the way

By right-clicking in the comment box, spell check is listed in the drop down. The Web techies on site are currently working to make it automatic, per a post they made in the internal forums.

We will now have a modicum of control over spelling, however grammatically misplaced the word might be. One outta two aint bad  ;<}

Now where were we in regards to this movement & the trust issues involving our beloved or beleaguered media?
