Singer Park is right by St. Johns and California Avenue. That is eight blocks due south of the Norton Simon Museum. Some of us will start showing up from 5:30 to 6 am tomorrow morning. Try to make it by 7 am, but if you can't make it by 7 am, that's alright. We won't start marching until about 9 am to 9:30 am. We'll join the main procession at Orange Grove, go north to Colorado, make a right, march for 1.2 miles, and end up at City Hall. Right now one block from the City Hall, we have 32 feet of sidewalk with tables, chairs, Internet and Battery Power packs (with some technicalities) for media at Marengo Avenue and Colorado Boulevard.
The protest was very colorful. A lot of interesting signs got my attention, especially the one made by a blonde girl about being fearless. I saw a lot of familiar faces but couldn't see any of the Occupy LA organizers. The apathy from the general public was evident but the march was just wonderful!
Police officers were blocking the Pasadena City Hall in riot gear.
I left after Cindy Sheehan spoke.
Thank you to whoever had the idea of organizing this march today!
One can go to You Tube and search occupy rose parade #1 submitted by Kelly and you can decide if the above statement about apathy from the general public is accurate. The majority of the people in the stands were cheering us, some had sings and use hand signs familiar to occupy. There were some boos and thumbs down. Later hundreds from the stands join our march. I saw occupyla people, the same ones I see supporting our peeps in court and regulars from GA meetings. This event may not have been done the way we are attempting to do in a horizontal way, but changing people and processes take time. The support today from the people in the stands was wonderful and they let us know that we ,the occupy movement, is on the right tract. Also in attendance was peeps from occupyoakland, occupyfresno and occupysandieago. If you missed this great march, don't worry, there will be more.
