This is a contingency action for us forums users to take.
Why: The OLA Media Team may not do a backup/archive of the website. If – I said, IF – the CH grounds are cleared, then there is a strong possibility the content on this site will be lost, or at least will be inaccessible for a long period of time.
How We Users Can Help: Save the content. The more users who do this, the more multiple backup archives will be created. This will be important for helping the web team to restore content if the site is resurrected – again, only in the event of a worst case scenario playing out come Monday morning.
- Even a simple archive is better than nothing. For instance, I’m just copying selected forum threads to word files and dropping them in an “OLA website” folder that has subfolders, such as: “GA minutes”, “Forums”, “Graphics-flyers”, “Calendar”, “photos”, “Declarations,” etc.
All the other OLA media outlets I can think of are not vulnerable in the same way the website is. For instance, if the physical campsite is cleared, then the FB page will roll on, so will Twitter, livestream texting, individual occupier’s livestream video blogs, YouTube, etc. But not this site, because adding to it depends upon OLA's people, who may not be there, or they will be there, but the equipment will be gone, or scaled back severely. There are too many possibilities to list them all. That's why we should save this content now just in case.
