While I think it's good to be out in the stores and malls on Black Friday to give the masses an understanding of what the movement is all about. I'm not sure occupy the stores, or preventing people from doing their shopping will turn them on to our ideas. While I agree that Christmas is a season where people charge too much, and fall victim to big banks, and ignorant consumption, I feel that education is needed (and frankly those who have not joined the protests are demanding it). People want to know what's wrong, they want to know where we're going, but if you use the tactic of inhibiting them from a tradition they cherish, they may not listen to our ideals. However, since many folks will be out that day, it is a GREAT opportunity to inform them of problems they may not be aware of since a lot of them haven't done the research we all have, and are often misled by unprofessional news sources.
That's my opinion on that.

Yes, that's a great point. Nobody likes to be preached at.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves - in their separate, and individual capacities. -Abe

Buy Nothing Day, and it's inventor, Adbusters, are mainly for middle class people with money.
When you're low-income, every day can be "buy nothing day".
As far as preaching - people like being preached at in church, at rallies, etc. Some people that is.
And church... is mainly for sinners.
Anyway, i'm staying in on black friday. I hate crowds. I hate shopping. This isn't a "protest", just a habit.
I posted this because there

I posted this because there was some talk of flash occupations at some retail stores. I thought it was a good idea to educate rather than to shake the finger at the "evil consumers".
