Though this post comes 11 days after our first month anniversary, the first day we all found ourselves here seems like a distant memory. I've been fortunate to meet wonderful people from all parts of the World, different beliefs and many who've touched my life forever. Not every moment has been gleeful; human beings are privy to acting very primate. Emotions raw as a fresh-peeled peach; no experience has been as real and uncensored as this.

Society seems to be going through it's teenage years as we slowly navigate through our growing pains (the consequence of capitalism, materialism, greed). My dedication lies on my compassion for people and the understanding that though we drive BMWs - our needs are still so basic. Rather than judging those who sought big dreams of big cars and houses, I'd rather commiserate with the concept of materialism being a catalyst for the fabricated dream those things represent.

As human beings, we have so much to learn. The second you positively influence one person's life, you experience the joy of selflessness. Financially, it usually doesn't pay much but the priceless joy that stems from it far exceeds and outlasts the faux euphoria resulting from the possession of a diamond ring or something of no grand personal value.

If I had to walk away today I would be happy for I know that my peers have reminded 54% of my fellow Americans that they DO have a voice and that the power lies in their hands. My peers from New York, to San Francisco, to Miami, fight for all those who can't fight for themselves. To any person who's reading this; when you volunteer and educate others, you're also fighting for those who can't see, you're fighting for your children, but more importantly you are discovering the weight of your voice and opinions, which is a powerful thing.
