Grammy Award-winning guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Street Sweeper Social Club, and his current acoustic solo act The Nightwatchman made an appearance today.

“I used to think I was alone,” he told the impromptu crowd which echoed his words when he put aside the microphone. After some words of support, he added, “I’d like to invite Occupy Los Angeles to occupy the Troubador tonight for free!” He then proceeded to hand over 175 tickets to be “distributed democratically” to his Nightwatchman show tonight.

Tom co-founded Axis of Justice a non-profit political activist organization which airs a monthly broadcast on KPFK 90.7FM in Los Angeles. He was ranked #26 in Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."

Celebrity...............

Isn't it odd that celebrity gets front page and yet the Occupy LA people who square off toe to toe with Secret Service (reportedly with help from the LAPD) and win....don't even get a mention.

I wish Occupy LA the best of luck. As of yesterday I severed my ties with this site. Not the revolution in general. Just the Los Angeles site. I will join another location. Probably October2011.org in DC

"Since we don't know where we're going we have to stick together in case someone gets there." Ken Kesey

A warning: The LAPD have learned

Don't blame the Occupation, I think nobody in Los Angeles really was ready or understood that their occupation would be the sole major occupation fighting a highly intelligent and cunning police force and government.

The LAPD have dealt with riots before, they have dealt with protests before. They are attempting to make use of highly sophisticated tactics to manipulate morale and destroy the movement from the inside. This sort of stuff is actually kind of scary because since we never had one crackdown we never had a chance to truly drive home the emotional points of solidarity and ensure everyone understood the urgency and severity of our cause.

The City Government approving the occupation is a warning sign I think. They are trying to first kill us with kindness as part of an attempt to manipulate the public sentiment towards the government. Then when we suddenly "Discover" drug use and other unseemly things at Occupy LA the government will easily be able to manipulate the media into encouraging support to break up the encampment.

I went to LA myself and loved the atmosphere, but I think because there has been nothing but kindness and support shown thus far that the majority of people there do not yet understand how to truly stand up and show cohesive support. But even if they do succeed in evicting LA that's merely one occupation in one city. The world is watching and we are everywhere. The movement as a whole is already far too big to fail.
